Part II<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">When to use POR and PARA is probably one of the most difficult things to learn in Spanish. Although there are some rules that may help you choose the right option I would say that the best way to learn is through experience. With this I mean that you will be able to know which one to use based on what you have read, listened, spoken and written in Spanish. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So here you have a nice tip for learning languages: Try to immerse yourself into the Spanish language! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Things you can do even if you do not live in any Spanish speaking country are:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Watching films and series in Spanish.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Listening to Latin music. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lots of reading ( Newspapers, magazines.....)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Write things in Spanish about anything that comes to your mind, this is a simple and a very effective way to put everything together.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Going back to POR and PARA, here you have some helpful rules:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>PARA</u></b>:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean "for" with time. For example:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Quiero una habitación <u><b>para</b></u> dos noches. - I would like a room for two nights</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">El informe es <u><b>para</b></u> mañana - The report is for tomorrow. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean "for" with a destination, person or purpose. For example:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">¿Para qué usas el coche? -What do you use the car for?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Para mí un café solo, por favor: A black coffee for me please</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean "in order to" with an infinitive verb. For example:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Yo trabajo para ganar dinero - I work to make money</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lo hago para ayudarte- I do it to help you</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Also "PARA" can mean " in my opinion":</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Para mí, Inglaterra es muy bonita - In my opinion, England is very beautiful</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">POR:</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean " for " when it can be translated as <i>for the benefit of </i>or <i>because of. </i>Por ejemplo<i>:</i></span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lo hago por mis amigos - I do it for my friends.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean "by" in passive sentences. Por ejemplo:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Fué encontrado por unos ciclistas - It was found by some cyclists</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Es muy querido por sus amigos- He is very loved by his friends</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Can mean " for" when translated as <i>in exchange for:</i></span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">He cambiado mi coche viejo por uno nuevo - I changed my old car for a new one</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Also " Por" can mean <i>along, through and around </i>Por ejemplo:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Me gusta correr por el parque - I like running around the park</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Por is used to talk about time. Por ejemplo:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Por la tarde - In the afternoon</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Por la noche - At night</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Also "POR" is used in many other cases like: to talk about rates or how something is done. For example:</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">¿Por qué? - Why</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Yo normalmente hablo mucho por telefono - I normally talk a lot on the phone.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In general the previous rules explain when to use POR and PARA, however there will be cases in which you will still struggle to know which one is the correct option but no worries as so do some Spanish speakers.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In the next post I will share some activities for you to practise POR and PARA. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span lang="ES">Hola estudiantes
de español, <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">En este post
vamos a ver el presente continuo en español. </span>In English the “present
continuous” is a tense which is used to talk about something happening right
now. For example: I am writing you a
letter, I am listening music, He is drinking water,We are working at the office.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As in English , in order to form the present continuous we
need the verb To Be and the gerund. But……….which one of the 2 Spanish verbs “to
be” do we need to form the present continuous?, SER OR ESTAR…….
We need to use the verb ESTAR in the present form plus the gerund.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
You can see here the verb ESTAR in the present form:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo estoy <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú estás<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él/ella está<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as
estamos<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Ellos/as están<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The gerund in Spanish is formed as follows : </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Verbs ending in –AR , we get rid of the ending AR and we add
–ANDO. For example:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Trabajar- trabajando</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Hablar- hablando</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Cocinar-cocinando</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Verbs ending in –ER and –IR,
we get rid of the infinitive ending –ER or –IR, and we add –IENDO. Here
you have some examples:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Comer- comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Beber- viviendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vivir- viviendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Salir- saliendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Escribir-escribiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Example, present continuous of the verb comer:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo estoy comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú estás comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él /ella está
comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as
estamos comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as
estáis comiendo<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ellos/as estáis comiendo.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Normally we use the present continuous to talk about
something that is happening right now. On the other hand we use the present simple to
talk about something which is current but It is not happening at this very
moment.</div>

<span lang="ES">Hola estudiantes
de español. Hoy vamos a ver el presente perfecto en español. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
What is the present perfect?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In English the present perfect is the verb used to talk
about what has happened. For example: I
have been in <st1:place w:st="on">Spain</st1:place>, You have bought a new car, have you visited the new museum?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As in English we use “ el presente perfecto” for the same
situations. <span lang="ES">For example: Yo he
terminado la universidad, Él ha limpiado la casa muy bien, Ellos han salido toda
la noche, ¿Has visto a tu amigo en la playa?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This verb is called the present perfect because in order to
form it :</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 36.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt; text-indent: -18.0pt;">
<!--[if !supportLists]-->-<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
</span><!--[endif]-->We use the present
of the verb “haber”.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 36.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt; text-indent: -18.0pt;">
<!--[if !supportLists]-->-<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
</span><!--[endif]-->After the verb haber we add the participle. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Let's see an example by using the regular verb hablar:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo he hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú has hablado <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él/Ella ha
hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as hemos
hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as
habéis hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Ellos/as han
hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As we can see in the previous example the present of the
verb haber is: <b>he, has ha, hemos,
habéis,han</b>. The participle of the
verb hablar is <b><i>hablado.<o:p></o:p></i></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Regarding the participle let us see how to form it:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For verbs ending in –AR, we have to take off the –AR and add
–<st1:city w:st="on">ADO</st1:city> .Examples:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Estudiar-
Estudiado.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Hablar-hablado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Limpiar-limpiado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Comprar-comprado.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Dibujar- dibujado<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For verbs ending in –ER and -IR, we take off the ending –ER
or –IR and we add –IDO. Examples:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Beber- bebido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Comer-comido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vivir-vivido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Salir-salido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Responder-respondido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Atender-atendido<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now you already know how to form the present perfect
for regular verbs in Spanish, unfortunately some verbs, as you
may already guessed , are irregular in the participle form but this is
something we will see in another post. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

Part I<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Estimado/a
estudiante de español, <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Gracias por
seguir este blog. En este artículo vamos a ver los verbos reflexivos en
español. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
There are reflexive verbs in English in Spanish, although in
Spanish are more common. But……what are the reflexive verbs anyway?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A reflexive verb is one where the subject and the object are
the same and where the action of the verb “reflects back” on the subject. In
other words: reflexive verbs are used to talk about actions you do “yourself” and to “yourself”, for
example: ducharse ( to have a
shower),secarse ( <i>meaning to dry
yourself), </i>acostarse ( to go to bed)……</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Also we have to take in account that the infinitive form of
any reflexive verb has <b>se </b>attached
to the end of it. As we saw before :
Duchar<b>se.<o:p></o:p></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The most common reflexive verbs at beginner and intermediate
level are:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<ul style="margin-top: 0cm;" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal">Acostarse
to go to bed</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Afeitarse to shave</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Bañarse to have a bath</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Dormirse to fall asleep</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Ducharse to have a shower</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Enfadarse to get angry</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Lavarse to wash</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Levantarse to get up</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Llamarse to be called</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Secarse to get dried</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Sentarse to sit down</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Vestirse to get dressed</li>
</ul>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Here you have some examples,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Mi hermano se
ducha en el gimnasio<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Normalmente me
levanto a las 8 de la mañana<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Se viste muy
rápido por la mañana<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Mi amigo se
enfada cuando no gana al fútbol<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Mi hijo
normalmente se duerme después de comer<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Me siento en el
sofá cuando llego a casa<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Se lava las manos
antes de cocinar<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Se acuestan muy
tarde por la noche.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It is important to know that some verbs can be used as both
“ reflexive” and “ordinary” verbs. The difference is that when the verb is used
as an ordinary verb the action of the verb is not received by the subject of
the sentence. For example, </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Me lavo ………….I wash myself </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Lavo la ropa ( I wash the clothes)</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Me llamo Pepe I am called Pepe</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">LLama a su padre
por telefono He rings
his dad by phone<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Me acuesto a las 10 de la noche I go
to bed at 10 at night</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Acuesto a mi hijo todas las noches I put my son to sleep every night</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
How do we form the reflexive verbs?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In order to this we need to learn the “ reflexive pronouns”.
You can see in the following example that between the subject ( yo, tú, él……)
and the verbs is where the reflexive pronoun is located. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Example, reflexive form of the verb lavantarse ( to get up).</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo <b>me</b> levanto<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú <b>te</b> levantas <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él /ella <b>se</b> levanta<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as <b>nos</b> levantamos <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as <b>os</b> levantais<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Ellos/as <b>se</b> levantan<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Remember that in Spanish you do not need to use the subject
( yo, tú….) so saying for instance ,<i>me
lavo, </i>is perfectly correct.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
These are the basics about reflexive verbs. Soon you will
get some activities and a
new post about position of the reflexive pronouns and other uses of it.</div>

<span lang="ES">Hola estimados
estudiantes de español en Liverpool o de cualquiera otra parte del mundo,<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Hoy vamos a ver
el tiempo condicional en español. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">¿Qué
es el condicional?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The conditional is a verb form used to talk about things
that would happen or that would be true under
certain conditions. Here we have some examples in English:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I <u>would </u>go if I were free. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Also it is used to talk to say what you would like or need
(in a polite form). For example. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I <u>would like</u> to study Spanish. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<u>Could</u> I have some assistance please?-</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I <u>would buy</u> a plane if I had money.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As you see in English you can spot the conditional by the
word<i> would.</i></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However in Spanish it
is different. To form the conditional of any regular verb you just have to add
the following endings to the infinitive of the verb:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><span lang="ES">-ía, -ías, -ía, -ía, -íamos, -íais, -ían.<o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
And… the great new is that the endings are the same for all
the conjugations (verbs ending in –ar ,-er,-ir).</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Here you have some examples:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES"> Hablar Comer vivir <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo hablaría
comería viviría<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú hablarías comerías vivirías<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él/ella hablaría comería viviría<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as hablaríamos comeríamos viviríamos<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as hablaríais comeríais viviríais<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Ellos/as hablarían comerían vivirían

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now let’s see when we use the conditional in Spanish.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b>-Saying what you
would like to do.<o:p></o:p></b></div>

<b><span lang="ES">-Making suggestions.<o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
When you try to translate the conditional in Spanish bear in
mind that the word <i>would </i>does not have any direct translation. We change the
Spanish verb endings instead. </div>

(verb IR +a+ INFINITIVE)Hola a todos!<br />
<br />
To talk about the future in Spanish we can use either the "Simple future " <a href="http://yospanishschool.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/the-future-tense-el-futuro.html">(learn more here</a>) or the near future . En este post vamos a aprender como contruír el "near future" en Español.<br />
<br />
The near future in Spanish is used to talk about plans in the future. For example:<br />
<br />
Mañana voy a jugar al fútbol con mis amigos.- Tomorrow I am going to play football with my friends.<br />
<br />
En las próximas vacaciones vamos a visitar África en bicicleta- Next holidays we are going to visit Africa by bicycle.<br />
<br />
<br />
Mis amigos van a comprar una casa en el pueblo.- My friends are going to buy a house in town.<br />
<br />
Mi familia va a organizar una fiesta el sábado- Mi family is going to organise a party on Saturday.<br />
<br />
As we can see in the previous examples we need the following to form the near future:<br />
<br />
-Verb "IR" in the present tense + A (to)+ verb in infinitive<br />
<br />
Yo voy jugar<br />
Tú vas estudiar<br />
Él /Ella va + a + viajar<br />
Nosotros/as vamos hablar<br />
Vosotros/as vais escribir<br />
Ellos/as van leer<br />
<br />
<br />
Here you have a paragraph with many verbs in the near future tense.<br />
<br />
En la próximas vacaciones <i>voy a visitar</i> muchos países de Asia. Mi familia y yo<i> vamos a viajar</i> en diferentes medios de transporte como por ejemplo: avión, barco y coche.<br />
Además <i>vamos a reunirnos</i> con otros miembros de la familia que también <i>van a ir </i>de viaje al mismo hotel, y vamos a organizar una fiesta muy grande durante dos días.<br />
<i>Vamos a alojarnos</i> en diferentes tipos de hotel y albergues, algunos de ellos <i>van a ser</i> un poco caros pero la mayoría <i>van a ser </i>bastante baratos.<br />
<i>Vamo a estar </i>alrededor de 20 días y probablemente volveremos a finales de agosto en avión desde Tokio.<br />
¿Qué <i>vas a hacer </i>en tus próximas vacaciones?<br />
<br />
Very soon you will get a post with many activities to practise the "near future",<br />
<br />
Saludos<br />

El futuro. <div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Hola a todos los
estudiantes de español!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The today’s post is about the future tense in Spanish, in
particular "El futuro simple". </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Probably this is one of the easiest verbs to from in Spanish
as you just have to add the endings for the future tense to the infinitive and ……the great new, despite many other
tenses, is that the endings are the same for all the conjugations (verbs ending
in AR , ER and IR). </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So in terms of forming the future tense just add the
following endings to the infinitive of the verb :-é, -ás, -á, -emos, éis, án.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ejemplos.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">First
conjugation. </span>Verbs ending in AR. Example: Hablar (To Speak)</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo hablar<b>é</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú hablar<b>ás</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Él/Ella hablar<b>á</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as
hablar<b>emos</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as
hablar<b>éis</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Ellos/as hablar<b>án</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Second conjugation. Verbs ending in –ER. Example: Comer (To
eat)</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo comeré <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú comerás<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él/Ella comerá<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as
comeremos<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Vosotros/as

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Ellos/as comerán<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Third conjugation. Verbs ending in –IR. Example : Vivir: (To
live)</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Yo viviré<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Tú vivirás<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Él/ella vivirá<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="ES">Nosotros/as
viviremos<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="ES">Ellos/as vivirán<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As you see all the conjugations have the same endings and the infinitive form is embedded in it so definitely this is not most difficult
tense in Spanish!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
Here you have some sentences in Spanish:</div>

However some verbs do not use the infinitive as the stem of the verb, but
this is something we are going to see in another post about irregular future verbs. </div>

Ask questions in Spanish!Hola a todos los estudiantes de español que siguen el blog regularmente!<br />
<br />
Probably when you start speaking in a foreign language, one of the most useful things is to know how to ask about prices, places, people......<br />
<br />
So on this post we are going to go through the interrogation pronouns and interrogation adjectives.<br />
<br />
What are the interrogation pronouns? Basically they are the words used without a noun to ask questions like: Who, What, whose, which, whom.....<br />
<br />
In Spanish the interrogative pronouns are:<br />
<br />
Singular Plural<br />
¿Qué? ¿Qué? What<br />
¿Cuál? ¿Cuáles? Which/ what<br />
¿Quién? ¿Quiénes? Who<br />
¿Cuánto?/Cuánta ¿Cuántos?/¿Cuántas? How much/ how many<br />
<br />
<br />
Here you have some examples:<br />
<br />
¿Qué estas cocinando?<br />
¿Qué escuchas en la radio?<br />
¿Qué son estas cosas?<br />
<br />
¿Cuál es tu libro favorito?<br />
¿Cuál es tu deporte favorito?<br />
<br />
¿Quién fue el campeón del mundo de ciclismo?<br />
¿Quién es tu hermano?<br />
<br />
¿Cuánto es?<br />
¿Cuántos tienes?<br />
<br />
So basically these are the interrogative pronouns in Spanish.<br />
<br />
<br />
Related to this we have the <b>"interrogative adjectives</b>" which are basically the interrogative words, Qué, cuánto/cuánta, cuántos, cuántas used with nouns.<br />
<br />
Examples:<br />
<br />
¿<u>Qué café</u> te gusta más?<br />
<u>¿Cuántos familiares</u> están en la comida?<br />
<u>¿Cuánto dinero</u> tienes en el bolsillo?<br />
<br />
As you see in this questions the interrogative pronouns are followed by a noun, that is why we called them interrogative adjectives.<br />
<br />
Very soon I will post an activity related to this topic in order to help you practise the interrogative pronouns and adjectives.<br />
<br />
